During my college days, the persistent stagnancy of Moro often puzzled us, akin to a dormant engine failing to move forward.
However, my foray into politics has illuminated numerous factors contributing to the setbacks and sorry state of the Local Government, often overlooked by those at the surface of Moro\’s political landscape.
More young individuals must engage in active politics within Moro to chart a new and prosperous course for the Local Government. Entrusting the responsibility solely to the elderly may lead to weariness and peril for generations to come.
Regrettably, not a single elder has crafted an acceptable, genuine, and feasible blueprint or agenda to steer Moro towards a benevolent future, regardless of their ideologies or beliefs. Building communities of peace and justice through consensus and dialogue remains a distant dream.
As concerned youths, we hold the future in our hands, yet solutions to our pressing challenges remain unaddressed.
The controversies over House of Assembly tickets in 2022 within the two constituencies and many others have intensified inexplicable disasters in Moro Local Government, witnessing party stalwarts engaging in physical altercations and youths causing harm to each other.
How long will these vices and malevolence endure in our community?
Many adept leaders have forsaken Moro due to unruly attitudes, selfishness, and a callous belief system, finding relevance elsewhere while neglecting their impact on the Local Government.
It is disheartening when leaders entrusted with resources meant for thousands exploit them for personal gain, inciting continuous revolt among the people.
We have witnessed several incitements and controversies among the so-called elite colluding youths to fight one another, the youth we expect to see themselves as brother and sister so as to deepen love and commitment to unity, progress, and community development within the local government.
Such acts of resource personalization perpetuate division and unrest in the Local Government is the reason behind our failure. Failure is inevitable again in the near future in Moro if we fail to unite ourselves.
I implore leaders to ensure equitable distribution of wealth and resources across the Local Government to avert further discord in the near future.
Additionally, identity crises and politically motivated actions have placed Moro at a disadvantage compared to its peer localities in the state.
Our inability to foster unity and brotherhood creates vulnerabilities for marginalization, allowing others to exploit us for their selfish gains.
Moro must awaken to the deceits played within its midst to progress collectively.
\”The future of the world belongs to the educated races,\” underscoring the necessity to continue educating ourselves and future generations in Moro may retard us more.
Remember, genuine change in Moro begins with each of us. Be the change!
